Come and celebrate the 53rd Anniversary of Friends of Manchester Trees. Meet up with Friends, both familiar and new, complete with delicious hors d'oeuvres, refreshing libations , and an engaging guest speaker, Ethan Tapper, Vermont Forester and Author of 'How To Love a Forest'.

About the event

Friends of Manchester Trees to host annual Summer Soiree featuring guest speaker, Ethan Tapper. Ethan’s literary debut, ‘How to Love a Forest: The Bittersweet Work of tending a Changing World,’ was awarded the 2025 New England Book Award for non-fiction and has been endorsed by prominent nature writers including Bill McKibben, Doug Tallamy, and Ben Goldfarb. In his role as Chittendon County Forester, he received numerous awards including being named Northeast-Midwest State Foresters Alliance’s Forester of the Year. His work is now focused on healing, managing, and writing about the 175-acre Vermont forest he acquired in 2017. His book is available for purchase on Amazon.


Driving Directions to Manchester Yacht Club, 15 Tucks Point, Manchester, MA:

Manchester Yacht Club is located toward the western border of the town of Manchester-By-The-Sea on Boston's North Shore. The closest major highway is Route 128. Exit Route 128 at Pine Street, exit 16. Turn left at the bottom of the exit ramp to go onto Pine Street. Proceed south 1.4 miles on Pine Street (watch the speed here) until it ends at Route 127. Turn right (west) onto Route 127 (Bridge Street) for 0.7 miles. Turn left onto Harbor Street. Proceed to the end of Harbor Street, going over a wooden railroad bridge.


Turn left onto Tuck’s Point Road. In under a tenth of a mile, you’ll see a field on the left with a white boathouse and boat racks—this is the Manchester Yacht Club parking area. Turn left to park, then walk back down the road and take your first right to reach the Club. Guests and Manchester residents should park in the town lot behind the beach.
